Happy birthday to my lovely wife! Having a birthday so close to Christmas means she often doesn’t get the excitement she deserves. But, we make sure she at least gets an ice cream cake and a stirring rendition of the happy birthday song before we hustle back to our usual last-minute Christmas preparations.

Target Practice
A couple weeks ago Grandpa Mike invited us to go out shooting in the west desert. It seems like we haven’t been able to go the last few times, but mainly because our invites have been something like this: I’m going shooting. I’m already in Lehi. Love to have you come along. Can you join me …
Daddy Daughter Skate Date
A couple weeks ago Katelyn and Megan got to take their dear old dad ice skating. It was arranged through their Activity Days program as the big annual activity, and they were both very excited when the day finally came. We got to go up to the Murray ice rink and skate for a couple …
2012 Christmas Card
Merry Christmas to all our family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones! We love sending Christmas cards every year and find it’s a great way to reconnect with some of our favorite people. If you just stumbled onto this blog posting without receiving a card, well, we love you too. One of the travesties of the …
2012 Fall Tour de St. George
I’ve ridden a century (100 mile bike ride) every year since I started cycling. Last year, I did the Watchman 100 in the Fall and loved riding down in St. George. I briefly considered doing the same ride, but opted instead to do the Tour de St. George. We’ve become good friends with the Denney …
First Priesthood Session
Now that Jacob is a deacon, he can come along with Grandpa Mike and I to the Priesthood Session of General Conference. Since it was his first time, we decided to beg for tickets and try to go to the actually session instead of viewing the broadcast like we normally do. Our bishop had two …
Wild Wild West
Our kids look forward to my employer’s annual Summer party like it’s going to Disneyland or Lagoon. The date is circled on the calendar as soon as I bring home the invitation from work, and for good reason—Morinda throws a great party. This year the theme of the party was the wild, wild west. The …
A good two months
A few months ago, we swapped out our Expedition for a 2009 Suburban. Manina searched KSL Classifieds and found a super-clean, extremely well taken care of Suburban. It was used solely as a road trip car by the original owner, had low, freeway-only miles on it, and could easily be mistaken for a new car. …
2012 Annular Solar Eclipse
On Sunday, May 20th Utah was the best spot to see the annular solar eclipse of 2012. We didn’t want to burn our retinas, so we did a quick science experiment and made a pinhole projector and set it up in our back yard. It worked pretty well for the first half hour of the …
Fathers and Sons
Our ward had its annual Fathers and Sons camp out last weekend. Every time I go camping with the scouts, Drew wants to come along. “This one probably isn’t good for little dudes, buddy,” is my typical response. So Drew was super excited to get to come along this time. Starting about two weeks before …
