Drew turns 4!

Drew had his 4th birthday party yesterday. Anyone who knows little Drew knows he LOVES dinosaurs. They are the first toy he plays with when he wakes up and the last toy he plays with when he goes to bed. So it came as no surprise when he wanted a dinosaur birthday party. Thanks to my dear friend Jen, I had plenty of dinosaur decorations to use that made the day just perfect for Drew.

He woke up to a pterodactyl flying from our fan, dinosaur posters, and the basement was set up like a jungle full of dinosaurs. He was so excited. I know that kids don’t care too much about decorations and that parties are mostly for the parents, but I am telling you, he was thrilled. His face just beamed all day long. It made me shed a few happy tears several times that day.

He had some of his closest buddies over. We began by playing dinosaur tag. Then we made safari vests and went down to find dinosaur eggs. Afterward, we played “Pin the claw on the T-Rex” and played pop the dinosaur egg. We finished up with cupcakes and presents and then just let the crazy little dinos have some free play. Considering the party consisted of ten 2-5 year olds and the fact that they have an attention span of about 1 minute, it went really well.

We sure love our Drew Buddy (as he likes to be called). He is such a joy. Although he has a temper at times, he is mostly very kind and sweet. He has a huge imagination. He is very content having pretend play with his dinosaurs or his super heros. Today he asked if I could arrange for him to meet the “real” super heros in person. I’ll have to see what I can do. He is such a cute kid and often wins the heart of all those around him. I just can’t get enough of that boy. I love you Drew! You sure are getting big and whoa, look at those muscles! 🙂
