Midway Getaway

Last week we enjoyed a “Mike and Jan Johnson” family reunion in Midway. It consisted of two days for “girls only” (with the exception of little Drew who joined us). We spent those days eating out, shopping in Park City, swimming in the pool at the condo and playing games. The boys then joined us on Thursday. We did some miniature golfing and then had a gelato at the cute little Swiss pastry shop near the course. Later that night we had a cookout with burgers and corn on the cob and then Friday we spent most of the morning/afternoon at Deer Creek on the beach and in the boat.

Mom and Dad rented a beautiful 18 passenger boat so we took turns playing on the beach and riding on the boat. David, Eli, Joe, and Seth did most of the wake surfing and boarding, but Dad joined in as well. We had a lot of fun and I nearly convinced myself that we needed a boat. However, after listening to Seth whine for the last three days about how sore he is I am reconsidering that thought. All the kids loved riding on the boat and couldn’t wait for their turn to come around again. Even Drew went for a ride and although the life jacket all but swallowed him, he didn’t make much of a peep (perhaps he couldn’t breathe).

We finished the day off with some overpriced pizza at Pizza Hut and shakes from Dairy Keen in Heber. We then went to the fishing pond and did a little fishing before the night was over.

Overall, it was a great getaway and was a wonderful break before school started. Thanks to Mom and Dad for the boat and food and thanks to Rach and Spencer for the use of the condos. So fun!!
