Drew and I went to the library yesterday. Our purpose was to check out a Pirates of the Caribbean movie (he’s really into pirates right now), but since we were there we checked out a couple books that would challenge him a little bit.
He’s doing well in his kindergarten class, but the books he comes home with aren’t very challenging. He breezes through them. So, I picked out a couple books from the library that I thought might be good next steps.
He picked one up this morning and started reading and quickly became frustrated. I told him to sound out the words, and he ran off screaming.
When he composed himself, he came back sheepishly and handed me the following note:

Let me translate: “I HAt reDeG HrD Books.” = “I hate reading hard books.”
Notes like that are exactly why it’s important to keep on reading.
That’s awesome! Best note ever!
