Spring break – off to warmer weather

With the kids being out of school for an entire week, we decided to head South to find some sun. We left here on Wednesday afternoon and spent the rest of the week playing around in St. George. My dad has a home there so it is gives us a good excuse to go visit. We had a GREAT time!

On Thursday we went to the pool in Washington County and had a blast (well, maybe except for Drew)! The big kids had a great time getting drenched by the dumping bucket and riding on the hypertube. Drew and Ellie mostly played in the shallow waters, but did venture out a few times to go down the slide with Seth. It was is a really fun pool and the kids loved it!

Grandpa and Grandma treated us well. They kept us fed the entire trip! Grandpa made his famous hash one night, the next we had his special hamburgers (special because he adds a bunch of yummy ingredients to them), and then we had pizza one night as well. It was nice to be able to hangout, visit, ride the golf cart, and eat great food!

On Friday we got up early and went to Zion’s National Park. We have been there many times, but it never loses its luster. We took it easy and only did a few short hikes, but the kids sure had fun. The sites at the park are spectacular. The beauty of the red rock never gets old. We walked the River Walk to the Narrows. It is a nice easy walk alongside the river. The water was really high so it especially exciting. We also hiked up Weeping Rock. Although it is short there aren’t much prettier sites in the park. Seth is trying to convince me to let him take Meg and Jake up to Angel’s Landing. I am not sure how I feel about it, but I will reconsider next year.

Seth & Ellie hung out together most of the trip! 🙂

We decided to head back Saturday so we could have a day to get settled before going back to school. Before leaving Seth went down to the community center at Sun River with my dad and Kathy and played a mean game of pickle ball. Of course he loved it and came home feeling pretty great about himself. I guess he kicked everybody’s butt (keep in mind this is a senior community and the three people he played with were 65, 68 and 75). Afterward we loaded our belongings and decided to get Subway sandwiches and spend a few hours at the park. The weather was amazing! We couldn’t pass up the warmth since we knew we would be back in colder temps before too long. We ate, played basketball, played on the playground, and relaxed.

Overall the trip was a great success. Honestly, the most exciting part of the trip was when I got my new iPhone4. Seth’s work pays for his phone so it has never been cost efficient to buy me anything other than a “pay as you go” phone. My Dad asked me if I wanted to go on his plan, which saves me a lot of money. My Dad convinced me I “needed” an iPhone. I have always felt they were overrated, but I have had it for 3 days now and I love it! Plus, it has a really cute pink cover that I particularly like. 🙂 So for those of you that get mad that I don’t ever answer my calls and texts, I should be much better about it now. Thanks Dad!

And what could be cuter than these sun-kissed kiddos on our way home?!

  1. looks like fun. i have a crazy story about my experience hiking angels landing, but it would definitely not help in seth’s persuading you to let him take the big kids next year.

  2. We had a great time with you all here in beautiful SGU! Can’t wait to see you again after our return in September.

Watch out next time down, Seth… I’m playing in next weeks pickleball tournament and could be dangerous (if not crippled)!
