This past week was spring break, although it felt much like winter break — even in usually sunny St. George. The temps were in the 40’s and 50’s the first few days so we spent most our time indoors. We took the kids to the theater, the indoor pool, and we even took a quick trip to In-N-Out Burger. Our idea of fun in the sun didn’t quite happen.
By Friday the weather improved significantly and we were able to go to Zion National Park. It was a great trip. Normally when we go to Zion we stay several days at the park, but with our St. George accommodations we figured it would be okay to go on a quick trip, even if only for a few kid-friendly hikes. It got us out of the house and allowed us to enjoy the beauty of that park. It is one of my favorite places to visit.
We also managed to get in a handful of geocaches while we were there. Seth got my dad and Kathy hooked on geocaching. They found their first geocache just up the street from their home. I also found one of the coolest geocaches I had seen. It was a fake plant in the ground near other real plants. Once you pulled out the plant the geocache was down inside the fake stem. It was pretty neat.

My dad and Kathy with their first find!
Although the weather didn’t cooperate for most of the trip, going to St. George did keep me from having to endure the 12-inch snow storm we received at our home in AF. By the time we made it home the weather was sunny and there wasn’t a sign of snow, other than a few trees in the neighborhood that had been damaged due to such a heavy snow fall. Plus, what beats hanging out with family, right? Thanks to my dad and Kathy who housed us during our stay. I know it can be a challenge to host a family of seven (not including themselves and their dog Heidi).

Hey, Kids!
We loved having you and the kids down for a few days. We, too, are sad that the weather wasn’t fully cooperative but we did enjoy the trip to Zion. What a beautiful place!
We love you all!
