Happy 3rd Birthday to our little princess.

Seth and I were startled from our sleep this morning as Claire danced into our room singing about how today was her birthday. She is such a princess. She twirled about the house all day knowing very well the whole day was all about her. Claire has a way about her that often captures the hearts of everyone she meets. We had an Easter egg hunt today at our church and the activity leaders insisted that before we began everyone needed to sing to Claire. Of course she was the center of attention again. She loved it. After the egg hunt my neighbors told Claire to come over for her own special golden birthday eggs. Everyone wanted to do something special for her on her big day.

As a family we decided to go swimming, one of Claire’s most favorite activities, and then come home for cake and ice-cream. I tried my hand at making a “real” cake this year. Claire is so over the top that I knew she would think this cake was extra special. She didn’t let me down. She spent all day staring at and touching the cake. I am glad that the five hours it took me paid off. **Thanks to my dear friend Sara for teaching me all the tricks of making these type of cakes. I had no idea how much work it would take, but after super sore hands and the passing of many hours this was my masterpiece…not bad for a first timer.

Anyone that knows Claire knows what a stubborn, independent little stink she can be but for some reason she does it in a way that most people just love it. She can destroy a room in a matter of minutes but just as you want to scream she looks up at you in a way that makes you laugh. She can sneak out of room, house or any means of entrapment better than the famous Houdini (not even special locks can stop her). I truly can’t imagine my life with out this sweet little crazy girl. I love her so much! Happy birthday baby girl!
