My dad was featured on SportsBeat on KSL this last weekend. He is a pretty amazing guy with a really cool story, and I thought Kathy Aiken did a pretty good job of telling his story in just over three minutes.
The best part about it was showing it to the kids. They were all so excited that their grandpa was “famous.” A few of Jacob’s friends also saw it and were pretty excited about the whole deal. Funny.
Anyway, here is the clip. Enjoy.

Just thought I would check up on the Johnsons, and then saw this clip of your dad/grandpa/father-in-law. This is a truly amazing story, and neat to hear. I’m not sure why no one ever told me, I’ve known you guys for how long? Just kidding, but I am extremely impressed and uplifted by it. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and I love the one with Drew coloring on the cabinets.

Wow… We’ve been really busy these past weeks and I’ve not checked your website lately. Beautiful story and great recognition for a fellow vet who really deserves it. Way to go G’pa Mike–it brought back a lot of old memories and brung me to tears. Nice story.
A week ago last Friday an old LRRP buddy called me and said he was in SGU and wanted to see me again and thank me for helping him–I was shocked to my knees. We met that night for the first time since May 19, 1967 when I lost my whole team to a land mine. Ronnie was shredded and I never would have believed he would be here today. Ronnie’s a rancher in South Dakota with a beautiful family.
Here I go, doin’ tears again. You hang in there G’pa Mike. In my eyes you are still 6’2″ and a true bad-ass among the big boys! π

Great clip! I like the way Big E tells it better. He always added just the right amount of BS… =-)
Love you guys, MJ
PS- Did you ever dunk the ball or am I still the only Johnson under 6″ to catch my toe in the net?
