A new tradition

I think we have found a new holiday tradition. We always try to make our way up to Salt Lake to visit Temple Square and see the beautiful lights, but this year we went up early enough to go to the Church History Museum. Seth’s Mom is serving a mini-mission as a docent at the museum for the next three years. Twice a week she works there giving tours and providing answers to questions about the exhibits.

So today we had our very own personal tour guide. She is fabulous of course and knows so much about church history. She led the kids through some of the  more exciting displays and told interesting stories along the way. She kept the kids attention the entire time (not to mention Seth and I were listening very intently as well). I would highly recommend going to visit when she can be there to take you on a tour. We also went to the children’s area and took a few photos. Then we concluded with a story about the pioneer children and the types of toys they got in their stockings at Christmas time. The kids got to make their own humming saw and have molasses cookies too!

We then joined up with some of Seth’s brothers and sisters and walked around Temple Square looking at the lights and enjoying time together. We finished the night off with hot chocolate and egg nog at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. What a fun time! We’ll have to make this a tradition.

Below are some pics but please be aware that Jacob is going through the “obnoxious boy stage” and can’t keep a normal face to save his life.
