Fourth of July 2008

We had a busy Fourth of July. We got a head start on our celebrations by attending the annual Riverton parade on July 3rd followed by a barbecue and fireworks at Grandma’s house. Thanks to Grandma Jan for such a great day. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They look forward to this event as though it were Christmas.

On the fourth we decided to hit the pool for a few hours. While at the pool we ran into most of the Fish family from the old Alpine days, and it was fun to hang out with them for a while.

We came home and made sure everyone took a nap. We figured that was the best way to avoid the late-night meltdown syndrome our kids have. Later that evening we braved the crowds and screaming pre-teens and enjoyed a pretty good show at the Stadium of Fire. Manina and I felt that Mylie Cyrus was less than impressive, but Katelyn on the other hand, was so thrilled to be in the same vicinity as Mylie that she kept insisting we go down and request she have a sleepover at our house. The rest of the show was pretty cool. It was worth it just to see the dudes parachute into the stadium and the F-14 flyover. The Blue Man Group was pretty good, and Glenn Beck was an entertaining MC. The fireworks were great too.
