I’m no longer a wannabe roadie, I moved out of that class earlier today when I conquered the Suncrest Loop ride — now I guess I’m in the newb category. Hard-core cyclists take the road from Highland over Suncrest and down into Draper during lunch. But for me, this is a tough climb. Continue reading “Ride over Suncrest”
Summer Fun
Summer is full of such craziness that I have found it difficult to write a post every time we do something fun or blog worthy. So I will instead include a few pictures of some fun things we have done recently. We are enjoying the flexibility of summer. It is nice to have our schedule go by the wayside and enjoy a little relaxation time. Continue reading “Summer Fun”
Drew is gettin’ big!
Drew is just over six months now (actually almost seven months on Aug. 6). I figured I needed to give a photo update for Oma Ria again. He has become somewhat mobile in that he rolls all around the house. He loves to smile and show off his two front teeth. He is also starting to sit-up with a little assistance. He is still a fabulous baby and is constantly being pestered by his siblings. He rarely has a quiet moment with all of our kids around squeezing him, hugging him, pinching him and occasionally biting him (yes, we have reprimanded Claire for that a few times). He went in for his six month check up this week and he weighed in at 14 lbs. He has moved up from the zero percentile to the fifth percentile in weight. I guess that is good. He is progressing as expected so we have no reason to worry. Here are a few cute pics of “Drew buddy” as he is known around our house.
Drew playin’ in the grass
Happy as always!
Claire snuck in Drew’s crib. We can’t keep her away from him.
Do my hair Mom!
I have three little girls and that makes getting ready for the day a bit of a chore. I never know what to do with their hair and I have to do something or else they look like orphans. The other day a good friend of mine recommended a blog she came upon. It is “She does Hair“. It is a blog of a lady that posts tons and tons of hair styles that she does on her girls as well as hair styles that people send into her. She also often includes the steps of how to achieve that same look. My girls are loving it! Yesterday they both searched through the blog and picked out their favorite hair style for church. I usually dread doing hair (assembly-line style) every morning but this has made it fun. You’ll have to check out the site…love it! It beats out any ‘how to hair’ book I have ever seen. See below for two of my weak attempts, but I’ll get better. 🙂
First set of stitches
With five kids, church on Sunday is usually an adventure. This last Sunday was even crazier than normal.
I had taken Claire to the bathroom, and while trying to exit the stall carrying her on my hip, she let out a little yelp and then started crying about her foot. I thought I had just pinned it against the wall while trying to open the stall door, so I was confused why there was now a two-inch-long gash that was bleeding badly. I grabbed a bunch of toilet paper and started applying pressure. Then I tried to get Manina’s attention and get poor Claire to the hospital. Continue reading “First set of stitches”
Man vs. Wild
The kids wanted to sleep outside the other night by themselves, and we let them. They were cold, but they “survived” all through the night. They wanted to be like “Bear Grylls” from Man vs. Wild. Seth and I were sure we would hear them sneaking in within an hour but we were wrong. They didn’t wake up till six in the morning. They did it…they survived!
Utah Tour de Donut
When I first laid eyes on the brochure for this race, I knew it was the one for me. I mean, to heck with the “real” cyclists who are doing training rides up the Alpine Loop to prepare for their double century (200 mile) ride from Logan to Jackson Hole. Let’s see if they can handle doing three 7 mile laps, eating as many donuts as possible between laps. That’s how the real men ride. Continue reading “Utah Tour de Donut”
Jacob’s baptism
Jacob chose to get baptized this past Saturday and we are so proud of him. What an awesome day! I went in to wake him up that morning and he jumped up and said, “Am I getting baptized today”? I said, “Yes,” and he said, “Oh mom, I am so excited!”
It was a special day for our whole family. Seth baptized and confirmed him. Then on Sunday he got to sit up by the Bishop during church in his new suit and he looked very handsome and so grown up. What a good boy…makes me cry. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped with the lunch afterward. We love you!
Fourth of July 2008
We had a busy Fourth of July. We got a head start on our celebrations by attending the annual Riverton parade on July 3rd followed by a barbecue and fireworks at Grandma’s house. Thanks to Grandma Jan for such a great day. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They look forward to this event as though it were Christmas. Continue reading “Fourth of July 2008”
Lots of Visitors
We had family visiting throughout the month of June. My mom came to visit from May 28 to June 10 and then my sister and her two boys stayed with us from June 10 to June 30. It was a crazy month full of lots of fun. It was interesting having 10 people (7 of which were children) in our little home but it seemed as though everyone really enjoyed each other. I don’t get to see my family too often since they live in Alaska so I cherish the moments I get to spend with them. My sister and I even managed to get out a couple times to do some shopping and get pedicures (It was Erika’s first pedicure and she loved it). It was great to have her nearby for a change. Here are a few pics from the visit. Continue reading “Lots of Visitors”
