Getting Close

So we’re getting really close to welcoming our fifth child to our family. All day yesterday Manina had sporadic but painful contractions. I stayed home from work because I was sure we were heading to the hospital.

Last night, we went to dinner with some friends at Sundance ski resort; I know, crazy, right? I asked the waiter if he was also a trained EMT, figuring we would be delivering there at the restaurant. However, our little guy cooperated and Manina only had to suffer through a few more contractions while I enjoyed some fantastic pork chops.

When we got home, I told the kids that grandma would probably be at our house in the morning — the contractions were coming much more regularly — I was sure we’d be going to the hospital during the night. Again, it was not to be. Things slowed down and we made it through the night.

So when will it be? I don’t know… I thought it was yesterday for sure. I do know we’re getting close though.

  1. Well, G’ma Kathy and I finally arrived home (in Alaska) late this morning after spending the night in Anchorage. Erika (with the assistance of her friend Dominique) brought us home and we immediately started taking the chill off the house and then went to pick Heidi up from doggie-prison. Needless to say, she was more than glad to see us. The three of us napped most of the day away and I am still a little groggy even at 8:00 pm.

We are all waiting for that final word about baby Drew’s inevitable arrival. My guess is that he is holding off until he can share that special day with his G’pa Mike on January 7th. You go, Drew! 🙂

Until then, we will be sitting here in the frigid arctic awaiting that fateful news. As you can probably tell, we’re already missing that balmy weather in beautiful St. George.

  2. Good Luck! Seth you have an amazing wife to even consider going out to dinner while having contractions!
